Yellow Weather Warning in Place for Wigan

A yellow weather warning is in force for Wigan today, with the Met Office warning of heavy rain across Greater Manchester that could cause some disruption. The warning is currently set to remain in place until late tonight.

The Met Office says a yellow warning means people should “be aware”, as conditions could lead to localised flooding, difficult driving conditions and possible delays to public transport. While not everyone will be affected, some impacts are likely in places, particularly on roads and low-lying areas.

Residents are being advised to take extra care when travelling, allow more time for journeys and check for any local flooding. The Met Office adds that even short periods of intense rainfall can cause problems, especially where drains are already full.

Forecast:
Today will be wet and overcast, with spells of heavy rain and temperatures around 10°C. Tomorrow is expected to start damp, but rain should ease later in the day, with similar temperatures and brighter spells possible by the afternoon.
