Wigan man charged with explosives offences

A Wigan man has been charged with explosives offences, after suspicious items were discovered at property in the town.

Ryan Baybutt (27/12/1999) of Belvedere Place, Wigan has been charged with manufacturing or possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances contrary to Section 4 of the Explosives Act.

He has been remanded into custody before his next court appearance at Manchester and Salford Youth Court today (Tuesday 24 June 2025).

The charges are in relation to the search of an address in Kitt Green on Saturday 14 June where several items were recovered.

Greater Manchester Police say there is no wider threat to the public at this time.
