Police appeal following allegations of sexual assault in Wigan

Greater Manchester Police is appealing for help in investigating an allegation that a sexual offence took place in Wigan.
A woman reported that she was attacked between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Sunday 2 November 2025 near to the industrial premises at the end of Cemetery Road, next to Wigan Cemetery.
It is believed the woman was assaulted in a blue car. A male suspect has been arrested and bailed with enquiries ongoing.
The woman is receiving support from specialist officers.
Detective Constable Alex Hunter, of Wigan CID, said: “I understand the concern that this will raise within the local community, but I can reassure residents that this was an isolated incident with no other related reports, and that we are investigating this crime with all resources that are available to us.”
Anyone who was in the immediate vicinity of Cemetery Road and Wigan Cemetery on 2 November, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, and has dashcam footage or who has any information is encouraged to call 0161 856 7094 quoting log 1475-04/11/2025.
