Man Suffers Fractured Skull After Post-Match Clash in Wigan

A man is in hospital with a fractured skull after violence flared in the aftermath of Wigan Athletic’s FA Cup clash with Barrow on Saturday.
The incident happened shortly after the second-round tie at the Brick Community Stadium, when what police described as an “altercation between Barrow fans” broke out outside a shop near Wigan North Western station.
Greater Manchester Police said the victim suffered “serious injuries consistent with being punched”, including fractures to his face and skull. He remains in a stable condition.
Officers are now urging anyone who witnessed the disturbance — or who has CCTV or mobile phone footage — to get in touch as enquiries continue.
