Man appears in court accused of killing baby from Wigan

A man has appeared in court accused of killing a six-month-old baby from Wigan in an incident at a multi-storey car park.

Flaviu Naghi, 34, formerly of Leigh and now of Luton, is charged with causing her death following an incident in the car park tin Tenby, Pembrokeshire on 2 January 2025.

Sophia Kelemen was rushed to hospital, but died from her injuries the following day.  An inquest later heard she died from an intracranial haemorrhage caused by a road traffic collision.

Naghi pleaded not guilty to causing death by dangerous driving, as well as an alternative offence of causing death by careless driving when unfit through drugs.

At Swansea Crown Court on Monday, the defendant, now of Rondini Avenue in Luton, spoke only to confirm his name.

He was released on bail.

The Judge adjourned the trial – which is expected to last three days – until Tuesday.
