Sam Tomkins film premiere in Wigan
Legendary ex-Wigan star Sam Tomkins is to star in a in a new ground-breaking documentary – and fans can enjoy a VIP evening to watch the film premiere.
The Wigan Warriors legend has allowed access-all-areas to documentary makers for the final few months of his decorated career.
Tomkins: The Last Chance is an in-depth look at the player and the man - with never-before-used methods including a microphone in his shirt for his final few matches.
It follows Sam’s story from grass roots to the grand final at Old Trafford last season and contains exclusive footage and interviews with family, team-mates, and coaches.
Miles Massey and Joe Gardiner from Jam Films are the team behind the documentary, and Miles says it’s a unique watch. “We had behind the scenes access with him and his family and exclusive audio from his shirt microphone from his last season as a player, when he missed out on glory against his beloved Wigan warriors at Old Trafford In the grand final.
"No player has worn a microphone during matches before and we had dressing room access right up to his final game.”
Now, fans can relive Wigan’s historic win and then enjoy a Q@A with sky sports presenter Jenna Brooke and stars of the film which include ex-teammates, manager Shaun Wane, Tommy Makinson, George Williams, Josh Charnley and Sam himself.
The screening takes place at The Edge, Wigan on Wednesday 28th February. The show starts 7.45pm, with doors opening at 7pm for guests and 6pm for VIP guests.
Tickets are £40 which includes champagne reception and free drink on arrival, red carpet, and Q@A.
VIP packages are available for £100 which give access to a VIP area for free drinks and canopies before the event, a meet with Sam and star guests, and get pictures taken.
Anyone can attend although there are some scenes with colourful language so parental discretion is advised.
